Xin Nian Kuai Le

We decided to enjoy a slighlty belated Chinese New Years celebration tonight.  I have to admit, although we were a little slow to get started, based on an online summary I found describing what characteristics are associated with the incoming zodiac, I think we still did a pretty good job catching the rabbit spirit...

"Good taste and refinement will shine on everything..."

My pretty little 10-kuai rice bowls from Taiwan.  And of course nothing says "refinement" like the bright chartreuse cup in the background.

"A year to watch out that we do not become too indulgent..."

Orange chicken.  We made it really mild tonight and doubled the sauce for the girls.

Black pepper chicken, made extra spicy to compensate for the tame orange chicken.

Hi-Chews!  Bryan surprised me with these today and after just one bite I felt like I should be hopping on my spray-painted bike ready to start weaving through the streets of Taiwan.  These were my favorite candy as a missionary!  When we'd stop to get phone-cards at 7-11, if I had extra money I would almost always get a package of these.

 And, last, but not least:

"The year is quiet and calm, even deteriorating to the point of somnolence..."

Yep.  We nailed it.  Happy New Years!!
